I'm amazed that this made it into the mainstream media. A major corporation trying to quash anti-Bush speech? The completely and totally unexpected horror!!
My favorite quote from the article:
Mr. Moore's agent, Ari Emanuel, said Michael D. Eisner, Disney's chief executive, asked him last spring to pull out of the deal with Miramax. Mr. Emanuel said Mr. Eisner expressed particular concern that it would endanger tax breaks Disney receives for its theme park, hotels and other ventures in Florida, where Mr. Bush's brother, Jeb, is governor.I say they should cut Disney's tax breaks anyway! Yes, I've complained about handouts to the poor and disadvantaged, but handouts to corporations are ridiculous!
Toilet Seat Covers
When you go to a public restroom, how do you orient your
toilet seat cover before sitting on the toilet?
I have always placed them with the little flap folding down the back, but this creates the frustrating side effect of the flap sitting in the water, saturating, then pulling the cover into the toilet. Thus I have gotten quite adept at positioning the cover only moments before I'm ready to sit, in order to keep the cover from slipping in.
Not too long ago, I was informed that the correct way to orient the seat cover was to place it with the flap going down the front. I have verified that this allows for a much better fit, and the flap does not touch the water, thereby eliminating the slippage effect. Despite this recommendation, my efforts to use a seat cover in this orientation have shown it to be less the optimal, due to the positioning of the male urination anatomy -- the flap, when placed in front, forms a perfectly positioned splash shield to reflect some non-trivial portion of the pee stream back at the pee issuer.
Have the other males out there noticed this? Is it the case that women place the flap in front, and men place the flap in the non-ideal back?
What about tearing the flap before using the cover? I've heard personal accounts of people (women) not pre-tearing the cover, but placing the cover directly on the seat, sitting, and allowing the weight of their output to tear the cover for them. Is that not the pinnacle of laziness? How common is this practice? I certainly do not do this, as I suspect this also would not work with the male anatomy, and/or with the flap placed in back.
.. And yes, I am jetlagged and can't sleep -- hence the time and topic of this post.
